Item type:Publication, Regional Research Portal UnityFVG: an OpenScience portal(2018); ; ; Romano TrampusThe three Universities decided to provide a single point of access to their institutional outputs under a new Regional Research Portal called: “UnityFVG - Ricerca Friuli Venezia Giulia”. The Portal will be a web gateway for searching and spreading the research data created by the SISSA, University of Trieste and University of Udine. The portal is also an open access repository that allows access without restrictions to the results of the activities financed by public funds. The UnityFVG Research Portal is based on DSpace-CRIS solution and use the CERIF-XML over OAI-PMH format for harvesting the main entities (People, Organizations, Publications) from the Institutional Repositories (IRIS based) of the member Institutions. Technical support was provided for the first pilot installation by Cineca, the Consortium of Italian Universities where DSpace-CRIS was adopted after the merge with Cilea. After the first year of test and pilot installation, the Regional Research Portal went definitively in production and registered online in the Open Access Week 2017 as http://research.unityfvg.it/. With the technical support of 4Science is now harvesting the data on weekly basis. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, DSpace 7 - Enhanced Submission & Workflow(2019-11-26); ; The last two years have been very intense for the DSpace community. A great effort has been put into finalizing the development of a DSpace release, 7.0, which has many changes from previous releases, particularly with regard to UI technology. As part of the activities related to the creation of DSpace 7, particularly innovative is the submission and workflow process that can be associated with the different collections. The presentation will provide a deep dive into the new Enhanced Submission and Workflow features of DSpace 7, including how to configure, customize & use this feature (and differences with DSpace 6 and below)14 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, New functionalities of the euroCRIS' DSpace-CRIS Repository(2016)The euroCRIS' Repository is based on a DSpace-CRIS installation to support the collection and management of different contents related to the Organisation's activities. The project has started in 2015 mainly focusing on the papers and presentations submitted by euroCRIS' Members for the events but always managing the publications information in a proper CERIF way with people, events and orgunits interlinked to provide rich information. All the past contributions have been added to the system and linked to the different authors, providing also the opportunity to link the Repository to the authors' ORCID profiles.12 16 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Extending DSpace to fulfil the requirements of Digital Libraries for Cultural Heritage Management EDIT(2018); Digital Libraries are continuously evolving platforms aimed at managing, visualizing, curating and preserving a variety of different cultural digital objects, together with their relationships. To build sustainable Digital Libraries, we chose the open source Digital Asset Management System DSpace. To support interoperability and to allow a broad dissemination and re-use of cultural heritage and research results, we built some add-ons to be released as open source: the IIIF (International Image Interoperability Framework) Image Viewer, the Audio/Video Streaming Module and the OCR Module. Managing the relations between digital objects and between them an other entities (such as persons, events, places, etc.) is a key feature, in order to handle every kind of cultural heritage documents. Thus we are also enhancing the DSpace Data Model in order to provide the description of relationships within cultural contexts.20 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Regional Portal FVG: Effective Interoperability Through DSpace-CRIS and Open Standards(2019-03) ;Trampus, Romano; ; ; © 2017 The Authors. Friuli-VeneziaGiulia (FVG) Regional Scientific System includes three Public Research Institutions, three Universities, four International Institutions, four Technological Parks in FVG region in North-East Italy. In 2014 the three Universities started to cooperate for a common research output inside a project named UnityFVG: United Universities-FVG. They already have 10 years experience in OA with four Institutional Repositories (DSpace/DSpace-CRIS based) and more than 100,000 Research Publications. So they decided to provide a single point of access under a new Regional Research Portal based on DSpace-CRIS. The project, with the technical support of Cineca consortium, offers a great opportunity to improve the interoperability of DSpace-CRIS based solutions. The European standard for the research domain, CERIF, is the best option to drive rich information to the portal in a standard and reusable way. A plugin/patch for DSpace will be freely available to enable data export using CERIF-XML over OAI-PMH. CERIF-XML will be available for all the main entities (People, Projects, Organizations, Journals, Conferences, Dataset, Publications and metrics). The DSpace OAI-PMH harvester will be extended to support ingestion of complex, interconnected information as provided by the CERIF-XML format. This will enable content replication between DSpace-CRIS instances and easy setup of public OA oriented portals.Scopus© Citations 1 669 64 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, DSpace-CRIS@HKU: Achieving Visibility with a CERIF Compliant Open Source System(2014-07-02); ; Abstract The CRIS now at the University of Hong Kong, “HKU Scholars Hub” (the Hub), began as a means to provide visibility to HKU research, people, and their expertise. It now also acts as a tool for management, evaluation and visualization of HKU research. The expected addition of CERIF compliancy to DSpace-CRIS in May 2014, will further enhance the Hub's utility for visibility, collaboration, and benchmarking.Scopus© Citations 6WOS© Citations 5 3 37 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, DSpace Hibernate-Prototype(2008-04-01); This article shows the reengineering of the persistence tier of the open source software DSpace, to introduce a lower coupling in its software layers. The prototype was made using design patterns and standards from J2EE world: Domain Store, Session Façade, Application Service, JPA were also introduced for a technological upgrade of the platform. The research and development activity aimed at this goal was accomplished in a stage offered by CILEA to achieve a degree in Computer Science Engineering, an opportunity that CILEA offers on several innovative ICT themes, with the support of its experts.1 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, DSpace administration issues: the community admin patch(2005); A large or medium repository, but also a small repository in some special cases, needs to allow a more decentralized management of administrative activities as: creation of new communities, creation of new collections, management of submitter and workflow groups, editing of published items, access policies and so on. Until now, DSpace allows only a partial decentralization of this functionalities thought into the role of COLLECTION ADMIN. After highlighting these needs, we will introduce the new role of COMMUNITY ADMIN and the changes made to the COLLECTION ADMIN role by our patch so to fix most of the previous needs. We will talk about the "long history" of this patch, made for the first time by Andrea against the 1.2 series and next kept updated, bug free and XMLUI aware by Tim from the 1.4 series. This "pass the buck", from Andrea to Tim and again together with some other people, shows how useful is for anyone to share results, experiences and customizations with the community so to get them back improved, reducing the cost of locale maintenance, debug and bug fix. We will close the presentation with the good news of the inclusion of this patch in the DSpace codebase for both XMLUI and JSPUI interfaces and also giving some notices about possible improvements in the next future.
